What to do in Adelaide this Winter

Today marks the first day of Winter in Adelaide. Discover a range of activities around the hotel to keep you warm and entertained whilst visiting.


From July 7th 2016, Torrens Parade Ground will be transformed into a magical alpine village. Complete with ice skating, Christmas markets, live entertainment and warming winter food and beverages.

Take the family during the day, with free entry, European inspired Christmas markets, hot chocolate and an outdoor ice skating rink it promises to be fun for the whole family. By night, enjoy mulled wine, live entertainment and winter food served by the wood fire in the alpine winter lodge.

Whether you just spend the afternoon or settle in for the whole evening, Alpine Winter Village is set to blast Adelaide out of hibernation this winter!


South Australia’s biggest beer, cider and BBQ party will take place at the Adelaide Showground from the 8th – 10th July 2016. Showcasing the best of South Australian, Australian and international beer and cider with over 50 exhibitors cooking up a bbq storm. Live music will take place on the Friday and Saturday night.


AVCON is Adelaide’s annual anime and video games festival. Run non for profit by the organisation Team AvCon Inc, with a focus on Japanese pop culture, the program of events includes discussion panels, cosplay competitions, guest signings and photograph opportunities plus movie screenings and a quiz night! This year it runs from the 15th – 17th July at the Adelaide Convention Centre.

Railway Tracks

Railway Tracks which takes place at the Adelaide Railway station, features our best local musicians busking on a custom-made stage for the entertainment of Adelaidians and visitors alike.

Guitars in Bars

From 15 July at various venues. The 2016 Adelaide International Guitar Festival (11-14 August) presents Guitars in Bars, a program of free and ticketed gigs that highlights the best of Adelaide’s live music scene.
