Spring School Holiday Activities in Adelaide

With school holidays just around the corner, Adelaide’s CBD is the perfect place to bring the family for some fun during the spring school holidays.

We love welcoming families and providing the perfect balance of luxury for Mum and Dad and fun for the kids. From toddlers to teenagers, there is something for everyone in Adelaide. From the Plant Trekkers menu in Riverside Restaurant where children under the age of 12 years dine free to our selection of family movies available in the room, the school holidays await for a memorable family getaway. To help you plan your school holiday itinerary, here are some of our favourite activities happening through September and October 2016.

1. Art Gallery of South Australia

The Art Gallery of South Australia, just a short stroll down North Terrace from the hotel’s doors offers a creative and fun school holiday program. The children are able to join practising artists and specialists children’s guides as they experience, discuss and make works of art.

This Spring the programs include; Power of Pattern Tying and Dyeing and Power of Patter Exploring Shibori.

2. Adelaide Zoo

The Adelaide Zoo, which can be accessed by Adelaide’s iconic Popeye along the River Torrens has a special treat in store for the zoo keepers in the family. The program includes a special passport, for the little adventurers to travel around the zoo, stopping at special checkpoints where they will learn about where the animals come from and through the journey they will experience Zookeeper presentations, arts and crafts and a chance to win some wild prizes!

3. Adelaide Botanic Gardens

Springtime is the perfect time to be out and about in the garden and the Adelaide Botanic Garden has a great school holiday program available for children to get outside and enjoy the sunshine. The selection of activities are suited for 5-12-year-olds, all based at the gardens and designed to promote fun, hands-on learning about plants, people and the environment.  All children must be accompanied by a parent/caregiver at all times.

4. South Australian Museum

During the Spring school holidays, the South Australian Museum is all about Opals! Discover a range of activities available for the young and old. You will be able to learn about how millions of years ago South Australia was an underwater breeding ground for ancient animals and you can discover how they are now forever fossilised in opal!
