With the excitement of Mad March behind us, we look forward to the months ahead on the city calendar. April brings some interesting and exciting shows and festivals.

Cirque de la Symphonie comes to the Adelaide Festival Centre from 12th April till 13th April 2013. The magical show piece beautifully marries popular contemporary and classical masterpieces, performed by Adelaide Symphony Orchestra with Cirque performances such as aerial high flyers, contortionists, jugglers, strongmen, dancers and balances. This showpiece is receiving rave reviews from critics all over the globe.

Adelaide Symphony Orchestra will also be celebrating Adelaide Festival Centre’s 40th anniversary by showcasing Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9 Choral on 31st May and 1st June 2013. Completed in 1824, the symphony is regarded as one of the greatest pieces of music ever written and in 2002, the original score of the symphony, kept in the Berlin Library, was added to the United Nations Heritage List, becoming the first musical score to be so honoured.

Also running this month is an inaugural Adelaide Food and Wine Festival from 6th April till 14th April 2013 to celebrate South Australia’s unique food and wine culture.
